The International Police K-9 Academy (IPA) is the leading school for training and educating dogs in the fields of Police K-9 Service and Protection work. This training Center, located in Gansingen Switzerland, is the base from where Hans Schlegel and his staff breed and train the future working dogs that support police departments around the world.
Gansingen is situated in the Canton of Argau, between the two Metropolis of Zürich and Basel, close to the main highways making it accessible to customers from all regions.
The International K-9 Police Academy has also a branch located in Reno Nevada, U.S.A. In the fields of Police Service Work, Narcotic Detection, Explosive Detection, Patrol Work, Officer Safety, Rescue Operation, Anti-Terrorist System, Education and Problem Solving, the IPA is The international reference with over 650 dog teams around the world. The International Police K-9 Academy (IPA) in Switzerland has a surface of 60'000 m2. This center operates with top qualified employees in all branches concerning K-9 services.
Hans Schlegel founder of the new K-9 "Motivational" System and manager of the IPA, is known to be the most qualified expert in the Police K-9 arena. Over the years, his unique method and his lengthy experience Hans Schlegel has built a sound and trustworthy reputation in all facets of Police k-9 characteristics.
In the summer of 1989, after many successful years in the United States, and as a leading dog trainer in 80 Police Departments with over 650 service dogs worldwide at his command, Hans Schlegel returned to Switzerland with the aim of creating his lifelong goal: the International Police K-9 Academy (IPA). With the purchase of "Ganshof" (the IPA property) in the summer of 1992 Hans Schlegel's goal was fulfilled.
The setting in Gansingen was the perfect spot for the grounding and development of the International Police K-9 academy. From the very beginning of it's existence, Hans Schlegel's Center was, and remains more and more so, the leading magnet for people involved in the dog world.
The International K-9 Academy focuses heavily on Service dogs and rescue Operation training. The Service Police Canines can profit from ultimate professional training in Protection, Narcotics' Detection and/or Explosives' Detection. Hans Schlegel's unique teaching methods in Officer Safety, Antiterrorist Work and High Risk Traffic Stops are now used in many Police K-9 programs throughout the United States. In 1984 Hans Schlegel's work was recognized in Hollywood where his dog "Jerry Lee" was used in Mr. John Belucci's film "K9" (1984).
